Report from service manager Gary Lister

What a year 2022 has been. Our management and staff team have done an amazing job, working hard to bring the service we offer here to a standard where I believe it to be one of the best in the country. We have continually seen God’s hand in transforming lives over the years and we are believing for more in the years ahead. 2022 has seen us develop our staff team, seeing 2 new support workers and 2 life skills workers join the team as we move forward into the next season. We have also seen the development of our facility here with an amazing 4G 5’aside football pitch and a new state of the art gym for staff and service users. I am also pleased to see many of our service users complete and graduate from the program, moving onto more diverse opportunities than ever before. Some of these include employment at the Inverclyde recovery hub, Freedom Motorhomes, Internships at Sunnybrae, Glasgow City Mission, Mattersey Hall and 20 schemes as well as moving onto The Arch in Glasgow and Teen Challenge Leadership Academy.

As we look to the future we have exciting plans in place to extend our building to provide an extra 8 beds as well as extend our kitchen, dining room and lounge facility to provide for this increased occupancy level. Scotland tragically has still one of the highest death rates, through drug misuse, in Europe and we believe that we need to work harder than ever to provide a place for more people to find freedom, as we continue to challenge addiction by offering hope to the vulnerable and socially marginalised of our communities. Our new extended facility will not only increase our capacity by 33% to 32, it will also provide a centre of love, acceptance and excellence, which I believe to be the very heart of God, Pray for us as we enter 2023 with all its challenges and opportunities that God will stir up men and women to help us finance this amazing vision that God has for us and has placed on our heart.
